Picking a Wedding Venue
A wedding venue choice is a big one! Some brides and grooms even think about where they’ll marry before they find who. From our experience, picking a wedding venue is as much about style as it is budget. After all, maybe you’re a bit country, or maybe you like the urban flavor. Style is important in picking a venue. You want comfort while not sacrificing who you are.
There are plenty of ways to dress up a wedding venue if it doesn’t match your style though. The place to start is your wedding colors. Take your bouquet colors and start from there. There are so many choices to think about including; table clothes, table flowers, flowers a the ceremony, what color cake you want and so much more.
Tip: When picking a venue, here are a couple of questions to ask;
1. What is the best time of day for my wedding at your venue, when does the sun go down and what do the shadows look like
2. Do you work with all vendors, or do you have your select few? (while the venue may have their favorites, it’s your wedding and you should be able to bring your own vendors that work best for you)
3. What time do you start cleaning up, during the wedding reception or do you wait till after the contracted time? (you may not want the staff to dismantle the reception area before you’re done with it)
Below are images from a few wedding venues. Wedding venues such as Amber Grove in Chesterfield, On Sunny Slope Farm in Harrisonburg, VA, the Wren Chapel at William and Mary in Williamsburg, the Tredegar Center in Richmond, VA, Maymont Park in Richmond, the University of Richmond Chapel just to name a few.
