Tucked away in the beautiful countryside of Charles City is Cary Hill Plantation.
We had a lot of fun collaborating with other wedding professionals on this styled shoot. The weather, beautiful ,the sun, arrived right on time. Cary Hill Plantation is a private venue tucked away in Charles City.
I started my day with a tour around the house. The pool is amazing, and since it was a little warm that day, I did think about jumping in. But I’m afraid my insurance may not have covered my camera gear. Behind the pool is the pool house. It was a great place for Katie’s hair and makeup.
Funny story
A cool thing happened while I was filming Katie’s makeup. The story goes like this. I’m filming Katie getting her make up done and all the sudden she starts singing. It’s not a song I’ve heard before so her singing caught my attention. Katie, a very good singer, kept singing and said she like the song. She asked me if the music was coming from her phone on the counter. Myself and Cameron look and nope, the music was not coming from Katie’s phone. I started looking around thinking the pool house had surround sound speakers hidden somewhere.
It wasn’t until I moved to the other side of Katie that we all had a ‘AH HA’ moment. The music was coming from non other than my cell phone which was in my pocket. I pulled my cell phone out and apparently my ‘pocket’ had clicked on a YouTube video of a song that Katie liked. The entire moment was just cool for me. We all got a chuckle out of it all. (So my pocket is responsible for part of this blog post. )
Alex and Katie were great models. It’s always fun having a married couple. The chemistry is much better, they don’t act like strangers, introductions are shorter, and the kissing is much less awkward. If there’s kissing at all. :}
Sunset
Everyone on the team worked hard to ensure each detail was perfect highlighting the beautiful Cary Hill Plantation and writing a page in Katie and Alex’s story.
As the sun began to set to the right spot, everyone on the team knew it was a great day. Just to look at Katie and Alex, the fun they had, plastered us all with a collective smile.
